• Tournament to feature 20 of Central America’s top clubs 
  • Third edition to take place from July to December 2025 
  • Six clubs will qualify for the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup 

 

Miami, FL – Concacaf has conducted the draw for the 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup. The third edition of this regional tournament, which determines Central America’s club champion and serves as a qualifier for the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup, will feature 20 clubs and take place from July to December 2025. 

Sports anchor Carmen Boquín hosted the live event in Miami, FL, which also featured Concacaf General Secretary Philippe Moggio and former players Alex Pineda Chacón of Honduras and Martín Alejandro Machón of Guatemala. 

During Tuesday’s draw, the 20 Central American clubs, each having qualified through their respective domestic leagues, were divided into four groups, as follows: 
 

Group A
LD Alajuelense, Antigua GFC, CD Plaza Amador, Alianza FC, Managua FC

Group B
CS Herediano, CSD Municipal, Real CD España, Sporting San Miguelito, Diriangén FC

Group C
Deportivo Saprissa, FC Motagua, CS Cartaginés, CA Independiente, Verdes FC

Group D
CD Olimpia, Club Xelajú M.C, Real Estelí FC, CD Águila, CD Hércules
 

COMPETITION FORMAT AND DATES 

The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup will begin with a Group Stage, where each of the 20 participating clubs will play four matches, two at home and two away, across five scheduled match weeks: 

Group Stage Week 1: July 29–31, 2025 
Group Stage Week 2: August 5–7, 2025 
Group Stage Week 3: August 12–14, 2025 
Group Stage Week 4: August 19–21, 2025 
Group Stage Week 5: August 26–28, 2025 

Following the Group Stage, the top two clubs from each group will advance to the Knockout Stage, which will feature home-and-away ties, beginning with the Quarterfinals, followed by the Semifinals, Play-In matches, and the Final, where a champion will be crowned. 

Quarterfinals: September 23–25 and September 30 – October 2, 2025 
Semifinals & Play-In: October 21–23 and October 28–30, 2025 
Final: November 25–27 and December 2–4, 2025 

KNOCKOUT STAGE FORMAT 

Quarterfinals: The eight qualified teams (four group winners and four runners-up) will be ranked 1–8 based on their Group Stage performance. Group winners will be seeded 1–4 and runners-up 5–8. The matchups will be: 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, and 4 vs 5. The four highest-ranked teams will host the second leg matches. 

Semifinals & Play-In: Pairings will be determined based on the tournament bracket, and in each matchup, the higher-ranked club based on overall competition performance will host the second leg.
