MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continues with Real España facing Cacique Diriangén FC in Group B on Wednesday at Estadio Francisco Morazán in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
The occasion presents the fourth overall meeting between the sides and second in the Central American Cup.
Real España leads the series with two wins, while another encounter resulted in a draw. The Honduran side enters the match in the hunt of its first points of the campaign after falling in its first two Group Stage fixtures.
Cacique Diriangén FC will look to bounce back after its defeat at Sporting San Miguelito. The Nicaraguan club is set to close out its Group Stage participation with its fourth and final match, searching for a win to climb to the top of Group B. Diriangén currently sit second in the group with four points and a 1-1-1 record.
Historic series
In Diriangén FC’s 2-1 loss to Sporting San Miguelito in Week Three, the Nicaraguan side saw its unbeaten run against Panamanian clubs come to an end, finishing their best streak without defeat at W-2 D-2.
Real España and Cacique Diriangén will meet for the second time in the Central American Cup, having previously drawn 0-0 in Matchday 4 of Group C on August 24, 2023, at Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula (HON).
Real España leads the series
Beyond the Central American Cup, the two clubs met twice in the Concacaf Champions Cup, with the Honduran side winning both matches 5-1 and 2-0. The first leg took place on April 21, 1990, in the first round of the Central American series at Estadio Morazán in San Pedro Sula (HON). Real España’s goals were scored by Nahamán González, Luis Vallejo, Emilson Soto, Carlos Orlando Caballero, and Geovanny Ávila, while Livio Bendaña scored for Cacique Diriangén.
The second leg, scheduled for September 29, 1990, at Colegio La Salle in Diriamba (NCA), was not played as Diriangén withdrew after the first match. Concacaf awarded Real España a 2-0 victory by Forfeit.
