TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – FC Motagua won 3-2 against San Francisco FC in the 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup on Tuesday night at the Chelato Uclés National Stadium in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

The two clubs met for the first time in the Central American Cup as San Francisco FC kicked off its debut campaign.

The visitors took the lead in the 3’ when Ricardo Clarke struck a header in the box to connect with a pass from Miguel Camargo.

Agustín Auzmendi tied for the home side in the 16' with a right-footed hit inside the box. Jorge Serrano provided the assist from the top of the box.

Raúl Santos extended the lead for the Honduran club in the 37' with a left-footed shot from outside the box.

Luis Zúñiga equalized for the Panamanians in the 48' with a lob inside the box over goalkeeper Jonathan Rougier.

Agustín Auzmendi headed in the match-winner in the 89', connecting at the left post with a service from Carlos Mejía.

With the result, FC Motagua earned its first three points in Group A. The Blue Cyclone will host again in its next encounter on Tuesday, August 13, against another Panamanian club in Tauro FC.

San Francisco FC will play its first home match in the tournament on Thursday, August 15 against Cacique Diriangén FC.
