Three semifinalists make history in their tournament debut
Mount Pleasant FA (Jamaica), Universidad O&M FC (Dominican Republic) and Defence Force FC (Trinidad and Tobago) all qualified for the semifinals in their first Caribbean Cup appearances.
New Caribbean Cup All-Time Scorer
Cibao FC’s Rivaldo Correa scored three goals in three games, becoming the tournament’s all-time leading scorer with nine goals. He surpassed Shaquille Stein and Shaniel Thomas (8 goals each) as he played a pivotal role in securing the Dominican’s club second straight trip to the semifinals.
Mount Pleasant’s historic run
The Jamaican side recorded four straight wins and four clean sheets, their best streak in tournament history. In their 2-nil win over Moca FC, Daniel Green became the first Mount Pleasant player to score twice in a single match in the Caribbean Cup. It was an astonishing Group Stage for the club that finished fourth in their group in last year’s edition.
Weymouth Wales ends 25-year drought
Barbadian club Weymouth Wales FC earned a massive 2-1 win over Cavalier FC, marking their first win against Jamaican opposition in an official region tournament since 2000.
