Historic Series
First-ever international showdown between the two sides
Moca FC and Mount Pleasant FA are set to face off for the first time ever, both in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup and in international competition—a historic debut clash between the two clubs.
For Moca FC, this will be their sixth match against a Jamaican opponent in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup. So far, their lone victory came on November 28, 2023, in the first leg of the Third-Place Series, when they defeated Harbour View 2-1 at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Kingston. Gustavo Ascona and José Francisco scored for the Dominican side, while Clifford Thomas opened the scoring for the Jamaican team. Since then, Moca has faced Jamaican clubs three more times, recording two draws and one loss.
Mount Pleasant, meanwhile, will be playing against a Dominican Republic club for the first time in its history. Their international record so far includes matches only against fellow Jamaican clubs (a 0-2 loss to Cavalier FC and a 2-1 win over Arnett Gardens), a Trinidadian club (0-0 draw vs. Police FC), and a Haitian club (0-2 loss vs. Real Hope), all during the 2024 campaign.
This will mark the 12th official meeting between Dominican and Jamaican clubs in regional competitions. Jamaican sides hold a slight edge with 4 wins, compared to 3 victories for Dominican teams, along with 4 draws.
Mount Pleasant defeated former champions SV Robinhood 1-0 on Matchday 1 of Group A, with a goal from Sue-Lae McCalla in the 35th minute.
