MIAMI, Florida – The 2023 Concacaf Caribbean Club returns to action on Tuesday with a very important contest in Group A between Jamaican side Cavalier and Moca of the Dominican Republic at Independence Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
Cavalier sit atop the group with four points after an opening 1-1 draw at Defence Force of Trinidad and Tobago, followed by a 2-1 home win over another Trinidad and Tobago side, Port of Spain.
The Jamaicans can take a big step toward reaching the semifinals with a win on Tuesday. It has been a collective approach thus far, with three different players accounting for the team’s three goals.
Jalmaro Calvin has been a big contributor with a goal and an assist, as has Shaniel Thomas with a goal, while 17-year-old DF Adrian Reid has shown poise beyond his years in boasting the team’s highest passing accuracy percentage of 93 percent.
Moca are sitting in good position as well in third place but only one game played. That was a 1-0 home victory against Port of Spain back on matchday one thanks to Manuel Vidal’s goal.
Vidal completed 96 percent of his passes in that victory and also made four ball recoveries. Alejandro Carrera provided the assist on the Vidal goal, but it is Sebastian Valencia who has been the most active, as he leads the team in shots taken with three.
