MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Caribbean Cup continued with Cibao FC earning a 2-1 victory over Weymouth Wales FC in Group B on Tuesday at the BFA Technical Centre in Wildey, Barbados.
The Dominican side got on the scoreboard in the 4’ as a bouncing cross found Rivaldo Correa, who struck off the volley for the opener.
Correa got his brace in the 17’ as a shot from his teammate Wilman Modesta fell perfectly to his feet for the goal. Correa now has eight goals all-time in the tournament’s history.
The debuting Weymouth Wales from Barbados went down a man in the 72’, when Jaheim Neblett was shown a straight red.
Despite being at a disadvantage, Wales FC were able to make things interesting by scoring in the 78’, when a free kick was deflected and Andre Applewhaite headed it in.
The hosts kept pushing for the equalizer, but Cibao was able to hold on to the lead and take the full three points in a hard-fought contest.
Weymouth Wales FC will play its next Group Stage match on September 18 against Juventus des Cayes.
Cibao FC leads Group B with six points and will continue its Caribbean Cup campaign on September 23 versus Juventus des Cayes.
