We are The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, one of six continental confederations of FIFA. Concacaf serves as the governing body of football in this part of the world. It is composed of 41 national associations united by the passion for football, from Canada in the north to Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana in the south.

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Media Strategy & Business Development Manager is responsible for the development of the optimal strategy, distribution, and licensing of Concacaf’s content across all media platforms. This role will focus on growing the business of Concacaf by distributing content in a manner that reaches and engages both new and existing fans, increases revenue, and creates long-term strategic value for the Confederation and its partners, as well as market and competitive analysis, new business development, business and rights valuation, deal negotiation, go-to-market process management, and ongoing execution of the defined strategy.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Identify new content driven revenue-generating business opportunities for the Confederation.
  • Analyze the media market and other potential market forces that can impact business opportunities and deal structures.
  • Build robust tools that provide valuable insights, enabling Concacaf to best navigate the competitive landscape of sports media and entertainment.
  • Conduct financial analysis and proposals for new business opportunities.
  • Management and negotiation of new and existing media distribution agreements to ensure the organization is delivering behind its contractual obligations and maximizing partner relationships.
  • Create and participate in strategic presentations to senior executives inside and outside the organization.
  • Collaborate with Digital team to drive growth across major technology platforms including X, YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities to distribute Concacaf content across all media forms including digital media and video streaming platforms.
  • Produce presentations and analysis for executives and external partners, leading regular meetings with business partners and internal stakeholders, and thoughtfully managing up and down to communicate updates and drive business goals.
  • Develop a network and strong relationships in the sports, media and technology marketplace to enable future commercial opportunities.

 

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that s/he can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • +5 years of combined experience in a related role at a leading sports league, media company, management consulting firm, private equity or venture capital firm, or investment bank.
  • Solid understanding of the overall media and digital media space with a comprehensive foundation in business analysis.
  • Experience in developing and implementing long-term business plans and strategies.
  • Successfully demonstrated knowledge of media trends (traditional and digital), evolution of platforms/consumption, and business dynamics/models of sports media properties.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and reinvent the way to license Concacaf’s content across media platforms including exploration of emerging platforms and innovative distribution methods.
  • Experience with budgeting as well as strong financial analysis and financial modeling experience .
  • Excellent business communication skills, both written and verbal. Ideal candidate is bi-lingual (English plus French or Spanish).
  • Ability to efficiently produce written materials in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong management skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills, in order to work effectively with partners, internal management/co-workers and vendors.
  • Ability to build and foster a broad network of relationships.
  • Experience of working and multi-tasking in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, strategic and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously while working as both part of a team as well as independently.
  • Candidate must have the flexibility to travel nationally and internationally for the performance of his/her duties. Approximate travel requirement: 25%

 

 

Due to the cyclical nature of the sports and entertainment industry, the employee may be required to work varying schedules including game nights to reflect the business needs of the company.
