OTTAWA – Canada Soccer named Kenneth Heiner-Moller head coach of the women’s national team on Monday, replacing John Herdman, who was handed managerial reins of the men’s senior side the same evening.
Heiner-Moller originally joined Canada Soccer in 2015 as a technical coach with the women’s national team and served as assistant coach for the Rio 2016 Olympic Bronze Medal winning side.
“We are pleased to have such a capable successor in Kenneth Heiner-Moller who has been a key part of the technical staff that has seen Canada capture back-to-back bronze medals and rise to its highest-ever ranking of 4th in the world,” said Canada Soccer President Steven Reed.
The 46-year-old Heiner-Moller – a former professional player with Vejle and AGF (both Denmark), as well as Ferencvaros (Hungary) – previously served as Denmark women’s national team manager from 2006-13, leading it to qualification for the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
