MIAMI, Florida – The final matches of the group stage of the 2022 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica get underway this Tuesday with both Mexico and Costa Rica hoping for victories.
In Group B, Mexico face a must-win situation in their group finale versus Germany at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela.
El Tricolor have earned two draws through their first two matches, but only a victory will suffice against the Germans if they are to reach the knockout stage. Germany sit one point in front of Mexico in second place in the group.
It will be the first U20 Women’s World Cup contest between the two nations since their meeting in the 2016 edition when Germany picked up a 3-0 victory.
Host nation Costa Rica will also play their group stage finale on Tuesday, as they take on Brazil in Group A at the Estadio Nacional in San Jose.
The Ticas have fought bravely in their first two matches, but succumbed to Australia and Spain.
While Costa Rica are eliminated from advancing to the next round, Tuesday’s contest against Brazil represents a fantastic opportunity to close the tournament on a high note in front of their home fans.
