MIAMI, Florida – The 2022 Concacaf Men’s Under-20 Championship in Honduras continues on Sunday with Group F and Group G seeing their first bit of action.

El Salvador vs. Guatemala

The day starts in Group G at the Estadio Nacional in Tegucigalpa where Central American sides El Salvador and Guatemala will square off.

There has been one previous CMU20 meeting between the two sides, coming in the previous edition in 2018 when El Salvador edged the Chapines, 2-1.

Both teams have achieved third-place finishes in the CMU20 in recent years, with Guatemala doing it on home soil in 2011, while El Salvador finished on the podium in 2013.

El Salvador MF Jeremy Garay of DC United and Guatemala FW Allan Juarez are two of the players to watch in this one.

Panama vs. Aruba

The second match in Group G at the Estadio Nacional will pit Panama against Aruba. Their lone CMU20 contest was back in 2015 when the Canaleros collected a 4-0 victory.

Now, a new generation of Panama players, among them FW Carlos Rivera of Maccabi Tel Aviv, will be looking to improve upon the team’s third place finish from the 2018 tournament.

Aruba are in the CMU20 for a second straight time and would like nothing better than to earn their second ever CMU20 win on Sunday. FW Terick Monsanto of Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam is a player Panama will have to keep tabs on.

Haiti vs. Trinidad and Tobago

The action then shifts to the Estadio Morazan in San Pedro Sula for the two games in Group F, beginning with Caribbean sides Haiti and Trinidad & Tobago.

It will be the first ever CMU20 encounter between the two nations, as Trinidad & Tobago begin the quest for a third FIFA Men’s Under-20 World Cup, while Haiti are trying to qualify for their first.

Trinidad & Tobago MF Molik Khan has impressed within Minnesota United II, while Haiti FW Steevenson Jeudy is already well-known around the region after winning the Best Young Player Award at the 2022 Flow Concacaf Caribbean Club Championship as a member of Violette AC.

Mexico vs Suriname

The day then wraps up with 2018 CMU20 runners-up Mexico taking on Suriname in their first ever CMU20 meeting.

Like always, Mexico boast a very impressive and talented squad with players already having competed in Liga MX, among them Club Leon MF Fidel Ambriz. Suriname will counter with a group that has a number of players based in the Netherlands, including FW Georrayne Boumann of NAC Breda.
