BRADENTON , Florida – Portugal is the champion of the Division 1 2019 Boys’ Under-15 Championship after topping Slovenia 2-0 on Sunday at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
It was a back and forth affair from the start with chances for both teams, but it remained scoreless going into halftime.
The breakthrough for Portugal would come in the 43’ with Diogo Ferreira finding the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Slovenia looked to respond but was kept at bay by GK Andre Noguiera and the Portuguese defense.
Portugal would then get its second goal in the 64’ as Francisco Soares scored to double the lead 2-0 and secure the crown for Portugal.
