CONCACAF sides discover U-17 World Cup fate

SANTIAGO, Chile – CONCACAF’S quartet of 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup representatives discovered its group stage opposition during the Final Draw on Thursday at the Centro de las Artes 660.

In attendance was Chile President Michelle Bachelet, who was joined by Sunil Gulati, one of three CONCACAF representatives on the FIFA Executive Committee and the chairperson of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Organizing Committee; Cristian Varela, chairperson of the Chile 2017 Local Organizing Committee; and Sergio Jadue, chairperson of the Chilean National Professional Football Association.

Presiding over the ceremony was journalist Carolina Escobar and TV presenter Julian Elfenbein.

CONCACAF champion Mexico has been drawn into Group C with perennial powerhouses Germany and Argentina as well as Australia.

In Group D, CONCACAF runner-up Honduras is joined by Belgium, Mali and Ecuador, while Costa Rica, South Africa, Korea DR and Russia make up Group E.

The United States is in Group A with host Chile, Croatia and defending champion Nigeria.
