Provisional Rosters Announced for 2020 Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship

Jose Juan Macias (CD Guadalajara/Mexico), Djordje Mihailovic (Chicago Fire FC/USA) and Randall Leal (Costa Rica/Nashville SC) are among the notable inclusions to the provisional rosters


Miami (Wednesday, February 26, 2020) – The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) today revealed the preliminary rosters submitted by the 8 participating Member Associations for the 2020 Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship. 

The men’s under-23 tournament will take place March 20 – April 1, in Guadalajara, Mexico and will qualify two teams to the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020. 

The final 20-player rosters will be revealed by Concacaf a week prior to the start of the tournament. After the official announcement, only injury-related changes will be permitted, up until 24 hours before each team’s first match.

The provisional rosters have been selected and submitted by each Participating Member Association and are published as such. In order to be eligible to play in the 2020 Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship, all players are subject to and must fully comply with the criteria stipulated in the applicable FIFA player eligibility regulations.

The 2020 Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship will begin with a group stage between eight nations. After round robin play, the first and second place finishers of each group will advance to the semifinals. 

The two decisive semifinal matches will take place Monday, March 30. The semifinal winners will advance to the championship match and will go on to represent the region at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The final is set for Wednesday, April 1, at the Akron Stadium.

Fans will be able to follow all the action through the Confederation’s partner networks, including FOX Sports (USA), TUDN (USA and Mexico), One Soccer (Canada), Flow Sports (Caribbean) and other local partners. For other territories, the event will be available on the Concacaf Official App (subject to territory restrictions). The free mobile app is available in the iTunes and Google Play stores.

Media Accreditation Reminder
The media accreditation process for the 2020 Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship is open via the Concacaf Media Center. The deadline to apply for all media accreditation is Friday, March 6, 2020.
