COUVA, Trinidad & Tobago – Regional bragging rights and a place in the 2015/16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (SCCL) are on the line Sunday, when the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship concludes at Ato Boldon Stadium.
The doubleheader will open with the match for third place as Don Bosco FC squares off against Montego Bay United with the winner claiming the last Caribbean berth in the annual continental club competition.
Afterwards, Central FC and DirecTV W Connection will meet in an all-Trinidadian final. Even though both sides already have SCCL tickets booked, the opportunity to lift a trophy at the end of the “Couva derby” is all the motivation these rivals require.
DirecTV W Connection, which has qualified for its fourth SCCL, last won the competition in 2009, defeating the Puerto Rico Islanders in the final, 2-1. Central FC is looking for its Caribbean crown after capturing the 2014/15 Trinidadian title earlier in the month.
