GUATEMALA CITY – Qualifying in CONCACAF for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup kicks off Tuesday as the seven nations that comprise the Central American sub-region will vie for a pair of berths in 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship.
All the action, which runs through May 24, will take place at the Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City.
The group winners will progress to the CONCACAF event as well as meet on May 26 for a single place in the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.
Four years ago, Costa Rica and Guatemala advanced out of Central American qualifying to the confederation finals in Cancun, Mexico.
The top three teams from the CONCACAF finals will earn places in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. A fourth CONCACAF team will contest a playoff with a South American rival with another World Cup ticket on the line.
