Three-and-a-half tickets for 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada on the line in Philadelphia
Miami (Tuesday, October 21, 2014) – The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) today announced the matchups and schedule for the semifinals of the CONCACAF Women’s Championship USA 2014, to be played at Philadelphia’s PPL Park on Friday, October 24.
Host United States navigated the group stage with a perfect record, and is set to take on perennial rival Mexico at 7:30 PM EST on Friday night, with a ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 on the line. That match will be preceded at 4:00 PM by the first semifinal, as Group B winner Costa Rica takes on Group A runner-up Trinidad and Tobago, with both sides in search of their first-ever trip to the Women’s World Cup.
The winner of each semifinal match earns a chance to play for the regional crown in the Championship match, scheduled for 6 PM on Sunday, October 26, also at PPL Park. The semifinal losers will play off on Sunday at 3 PM, for the region’s final direct ticket to the Women’s World Cup.
In all, the CONCACAF Women’s Championship will qualify its top three finishers directly to the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the fourth-placed team earning the right to face Ecuador – South American qualifying’s fourth place finisher -- in a playoff later this year for an additional World Cup bid. As host of the Women’s World Cup 2015, Canada has already secured its place in next year’s tournament.
Tickets to the semifinals, third-place match and final are on sale now and can be acquired by clicking here.
