KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica departed Monday with 23 players for a two-week long training camp at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida.

The squad will complete preparations for the start of qualifying for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup through participation in the inaugural CFU Caribbean Women’s Cup.  It is scheduled to face St. Lucia (June 18) and the host Dominican Republic (June 22) in first round, Group 5 play at the Estadio Panamericano in San Cristobal.

Head coach Merron Gordon, who has conducted training sessions on a regular basis since February, received the good news that Sweden-based goalkeeper Nicole McClure will be available for selection.

“Once it became official that I will travel away from my Swedish club team in the middle of our season to represent Jamaica, I felt an even greater sense of pride than when I played on the Under-20 team in 2008,” said McClure.

Jamaica did not enter a team in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup, but it did advance to the match for third place during CONCACAF qualifying for the 2007 edition, before falling 3-0 to Mexico.
