PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Union announced Wednesday that it has acquired United States international Alejandro Bedoya from Nantes.
The 29-year-old midfielder spent the last three years with the French club, playing in 87 league games and scoring 11 goals.
“We have laid out very specific goals for our club this season and Alejandro adds the type of quality that can instantly guide us in achieving them,” said Union sporting director Earnie Stewart. “He’s a tremendous player in the prime of his career and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the club.”
Bedoya has also played with Swedish sides Orebo SK (2009-11) and Helsinborgs IF (2012-13), as well as Scotland’s Rangers FC (2011-12).
With the U.S., he has earned 53 career caps (2 goals), including four from appearances in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Bedoya has also competed in three CONCACAF Gold Cups (2011, 2013, 2015) and the Copa America Centenario (2016).
