PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad & Tobago – Trinidad & Tobago named a 20-player roster Friday for its international friendly against Mexico on September 4 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah, USA.
The game will be a rematch of their thrilling 4-4 draw in last month’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.
“I wanted to keep as much of a core of players together as possible because we have really to work on World Cup qualification,” said head coach Stephen Hart. “At the same time, also inject some competition for places in certain parts of the field.”
Since a pair of key performers -- forward Kenwyne Jones and defender Sheldon Bateau -- have been excused to settle their club situations, Hart extended invitations to a handful of players with limited national team experience
Among those are forward Trevin Caesar, 26, who has scored eight goals in 22 appearances for the USA’s Austin Aztex this season, and midfielder Neveal Hackshaw, a standout for the Soca Warriors in the 2015 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship.
