PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad & Tobago – Trinidad & Tobago announced Tuesday that it will take an 18-player squad to Montego Bay for a November 15 friendly against host Jamaica at Catherine Hall Stadium.

It will be the first of two encounters between the Caribbean powers, who will meet again four days later  in Port of Spain.

“It’s always a strong contest whenever we face Jamaica,” said Trinidad midfielder Densill Theobald.  “Even though these are two friendlies, neither teams likes losing and we are expecting two tough matches.”

Trinidad head coach Stephen Hart views the pair of matches as another step in gearing towards the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign.

“It’s always a match with a lot to look forward to and a competitive one of that when these two countries meet,” Hart told TTFA Media.  “There is a lot of history and rivalry between us.  We are continuing to work towards finding the right balance, the right combination of players and the right mindset and approach as it relates to our preparations for future competitions with the 2018 qualification being the main objective and we will treat these two matches in the same manner.”

The Soca Warriors have not beaten Jamaica since the 2001 Caribbean Cup, 2-1, in Port of Spain.  The Reggae Boyz, though, have emerged victorious in their last two meetings, both in 2010: 1-0 at home in Kingston and 3-1 in Macoya, Trinidad.
