CARDIFF, Wales – Cardiff City announced Tuesday that it has loaned Trinidad & Tobago international Kenwyne Jones to Al Jazira of the United Arab Emirates for the remainder of the 2015-16 season.
With his contract expiring at the end of the agreement, the 31-year-old forward’s career with the Welsh club has effectively come to an end.
Jones, who has scored five goals in 15 Championship games during the current campaign, joined Cardiff City from Stoke City in January 2014. He came to England in 2004 after being transferred from W Connection to Southampton, ultimately going on to play for Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland and Bournemouth.
With Trinidad & Tobago, Jones competed in the 2006 FIFA World Cup (2 games, 0 goals) and has appeared in four World Cup qualifying campaigns (31 games, 5 goals). In CONCACAF Gold Cup play, he has four goals, netting twice in both the 2013 and 2015 editions.
Jones is not on T&T’s roster for its Copa America Centenario qualifying playoff against Haiti on Friday in Panama City, Panama.
