MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica -- Jamaica head coach Winfried Schafer announced Wednesday that he has called in 22 players, including six from Major League Soccer (MLS), for a pair of friendlies against Trinidad & Tobago.

The sides will square off on Friday at Catherine Hall Stadium in Montego Bay, before traveling south for a November 19 meeting in Port of Spain’s Hasely Crawford Stadium.

"This will give the young players the chance to make mistakes so we can help them get better (as) this is the start of a new chapter where we can test players and see what we have," Schafer told the media assembled at the Rui Hotel.

Heading the list of MLS-based players is Vancouver Whitecaps striker Darren Mattocks, who scored three goals in 20 league appearances this season.  He will be joined by forwards Deshorn Brown (Colorado Rapids), Jason Johnson (Houston Dynamo) and 17-year-old Michael Seaton (D.C. United); midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson (FC Dallas) and defender Alvas Powell (Portland Timbers).

A number of young players, mainly from local clubs, earned call-ups.  Among them are Upston Edwards, Ricardo Morris, Isamnia Cohan and Khesanio Hall.

Jamaica will be using the matches to launch preparations for its 2018 World Cup Qualifying campaign.
