TENERIFE, Spain – Honduras international Antony Lozano will be out of action for an unspecified amount of time after suffering an injury in a Spanish second-division match this past weekend, his club Tenerife announced.
The 23-year-old forward scored the first goal in the 15th minute of what eventually became a 3-2 win over visiting Rayo Vallecano. Eight minutes ahead of halftime, however, he was forced to leave the match for Haythem Jouini.
A Monday morning MRI determined Lozano has a muscle tear in his left thigh that will require rehabilitation before he can return to the field.
No official determination has been made if the former Olimpia star will be available for selection by Honduras, when it opens the final round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on November 11 at home against Panama in San Pedro Sula.
