SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras – Honduras head coach Jorge Luis Pinto added Monday forward Eddie Hernandez and goalkeeper Kevin Hernandez to his roster ahead of the intercontinental playoff against Australia for a berth in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The Hondurans will host the series opener in San Pedro Sula on November 10, with the second leg slated to be played five days later in Sydney.

Eddie Hernandez’s possible inclusion was initially in doubt after he underwent surgery for a fractured right cheek suffered in a collision with Caue Fernandes of Marathon in a 2017 Honduran Apertura match on October 21.

The 26-year-old, capped 21 times, scored two goals in five CONCACAF qualifiers for Russia 2018. He was also named to the 2017 Copa Centroamericana’s Best XI, netting a tournament-best three goals in helping Honduras to the title.

Real España custodian Kevin Hernandez has made five appearances with the senior team, including four in the 2014 Copa Centroamericana.
