HEREDIA, Costa Rica – Herediano announced Monday the acquisition of midfielder Jose Miguel Cubero from Blackpool, signing him to a two-year contract.
The 28-year-old Costa Rica international joined the English side in July 2014, weeks after he appeared in four matches during the Ticos’ run to the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals.
It will be Cubero’s second spell with Herediano, also playing with the Florenses from 2006-2014, including a loan to Puntarenas.
In addition to the World Cup, he has also represented Costa Rica in a CONCACAF Gold Cup (2015), two Central American Cups (2014-champion, 2011) and a FIFA U-20 World Cup (2007).
Cubero joins Leonardo Gonzalez, Victor Nuñez, Antonio Pedroza (loan, Cruz Azul), Yendrick Ruiz, Walter Silva and Pablo Salazar as Herediano’s newest roster additions for the 2016 Costa Rican Verano season.
