CHICAGO – After unveiling his provisional 35-man roster for the 2015 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, United States head coach Tab Ramos opened a training camp Sunday in Sunrise, Florida.

The gathering will last until January 5, when the Americans will depart for the competition, which is scheduled to be played January 9-24 in Jamaica.

“I am looking forward to our last camp leading into U-20 World Cup qualifying, and there will be some very difficult selections in what we think is a very competitive, deep and united pool of players,” said Ramos.  “They have performed well together over the past 18 months.”

The selection contains four players from Liga MX side Club Tijuana, including forward Paul Arriola, who has two career goals in the CONCACAF Champions League.  Midfielder Fernando Arce, 18, has made one Liga MX appearance for Xolos, while defender John Requejo and forward Amando Moreno have yet to make their league debuts.

Ramos is expected to name the final 20-player roster on Friday, seven days before the USA’s Group A opener against Guatemala at Independence Park in Kingston.

That match will be followed by encounters against Panama (January 11) and Aruba (January 14) in Kingston, followed by games against host Jamaica (January 18) and Trinidad & Tobago (January 21) at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.

The tournament will qualify four teams to the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
