NEW YORK – United States under-20 national team head coach Tab Ramos has named 20 players to his roster for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be played May 30-June 20 in New Zealand.
The selection is highlighted by the inclusion of Fulham midfielder Emerson Hyndman and Utrecht forward Rubio Rubin, each of whom made their full international debuts in 2014.
"I’m very excited about this particular group,” said Ramos. “It was very difficult making the final decision because there were quite a few players who deserved to go to the World Cup. Unfortunately, in the end I can only select a certain number, and I’m very happy with the selections that we made.”
Ramos, a former U.S. standout midfielder, left room to add a player before submitting the final 21-man roster to FIFA by the May 15 deadline.
The U.S. opens its World Cup campaign against Group A rival Myanmar on May 30 in Whangarei, before facing host New Zealand (June 2 in Auckland) and Ukraine (June 5 in Auckland).
