JEONJU, Korea Republic – Ademola Lookman scored two goals and England earned a 2-1 win over Costa Rica in a FIFA U-20 World Cup Round of 16 encounter on Wednesday at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.

With the result, England will face tomorrow’s Mexico-Senegal winner in the quarterfinals, while the Costa Ricans were eliminated after posting an overall 1W1D-2L record in their competition appearance.

Lookman put the English ahead 1-0 in 35th minute after controlling Jonjoe Kenny’s right-sided cross that eluded four Costa Rican defenders. He doubled the lead in the 63rd minute with a composed finish from seven yards out.

Following a handball call in the box, Costa Rica halved the deficit in the 89th minute, when Randall Leal put away the rebound of his penalty kick that was initially saved by goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.
