PANAMA CITY, Panama – The Panama under-20 national team will visit its counterparts in Peru for friendlies on January 2 and 4, the Federación Panameña de Fútbol announced Friday.
Head coach Leonardo Pipino is using the trip as part of his preparations for the next CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, which will be played February 17-March 5, 2017, in Costa Rica.
At the CONCACAF event, which qualifies four teams to the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Korea Republic, the Canaleros will face Group B opponents United States (February 18), St. Kitts & Nevis (February 21) and Haiti (February 24).
Panama has made five appearances in the FIFA U-20 World Cup (2003, 2005, 2007, 2011, 2015).
