HARRISON, New Jersey – Honduras under-20 international Douglas Martinez has joined the New York Red Bulls II on loan from CD Vida, it was announced Thursday.

The 19-year-old forward will stay with the defending United Soccer League champion for the remainder of the 2017 season.

Martinez started five of Honduras’ six matches in the 2017 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, scoring one goal as the runner-up Catrachos qualified for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Korea Republic.

“Douglas is a young international player that has many of the tools we look for in an attacking player,” said New York Red Bulls II head coach John Wolyniec.  “We feel that his pace and energy, aggressive mentality and determination fit in well with our style of play.”

Martinez will be available for selection for the Red Bulls II's next match on May 6, when it hosts the Harrisburg City Islanders.
