BRADENTON, Florida – Haiti and Costa Rica kept their perfect records intact with wins on Saturday in Group E at the 2018 Concacaf Under-20 Championship.
Haiti kicked off action in the group with a 4-0 victory over Bermuda.
Nael Elysse bagged a brace in the first half (12’, 43’) before a Bicou Bissainthe penalty conversion (60’) and a late Antonio Borgelin score (90+1’) sealed the three points for the Haitians.
It was a much more hard-fought victory for Costa Rica, who fought off a brave challenge from CU20 debutants Barbados for a 2-0 victory.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half, but the Ticos would start the second half off in strong fashion with a Diego Mesen goal in the 47’.
Barbados searched for an equalizer, but Costa Rica would stand firm and Ronaldo Araya’s penalty conversion in the 83’ cemented the triumph for the Central Americans.
