United States rolls over Suriname, wins Group A

BRADENTON, Florida – The United States rolled to a 7-0 win over Suriname to finish in first place in Group A and advance to the Qualification Stage of the 2018 Concacaf Under-20 Championship.

A brace from Ayo Akinola (43’, 45’) and Alex Mendez (7’, 83’) and goals from Mark McKenzie (26’), Juan P. Torres (62’) and Justin Rennicks (79’) carried the reigning CU20 champions into the next phase of the tournament.

Puerto Rico finished its CU20 campaign with its third straight win, a 4-2 final over Saint Vincent and the Grenadines thanks to goals from Jaden Servania (4’, 68’), Alejandro Rabell (16’) and Kevin Montanez (76’). The scorers for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines were Trivis Fraser (19’) and Trezine Da Souza (37’).

Trinidad and Tobago also concluded its group stage with a 3-0 triumph over the U.S. Virgin Islands courtesy of goals from Nickel Orr (1’), Isaiah Lee (77’) and Che Benny (90’).
