Paniagua, Villafranca performances highlight Group C action at CU20

BRADENTON, Florida Group C was the home of some hugely impressive individual performances on Wednesday on Matchday Four at the 2018 Concacaf Under-20 Championship.

It all started in the group’s opening match with Erick Paniagua scoring five first half goals (2’, 31’, 40’, 43’, 45+1’) for the Dominican Republic in its 12-1 win over Sint Maarten.

Juan Pineda (5’, 36’), Ronaldo Vasquez (33’, 66’) and Juan Angeles (85’, 86’) each had braces, plus a score from Sergio Paredes (80’). Sint Maarten’s lone goal was scored by Jaeremi Drijvers (87’).

Honduras’ nearly equaled Paniagua’s feat by scoring four goals in 20 minutes to power Honduras to a 4-0 win over Belize.

All the more amazing is that Villafranca entered the match as a halftime substitute before finding the back of the net in the 72’, 79, 90’ and 90+3’ minutes.

Cuba wrapped up the day’s action in the group with 3-0 triumph against Antigua and Barbuda. Geobel Perez (23’, 77’) had a brace, while Christian Flores (38’) also scored in the clean sheet win for the Cubans.
