BRADENTON, Florida – Puerto Rico and Saint Vincent and Grenadines each made history on Monday with their respective victories in Group A the 2018 Concacaf Under-20 Championship.
In its second CU20 appearance and fifth match overall, the Boricuas earned their first three points in dramatic fashion by rallying from a 1-0 deficit to top Suriname, 2-1.
Ayad Godlieb (25’) put Suriname in control in the first half, but Jaden Servania tallied a pair of late scores (74’, 90+3’) to give Puerto Rico the win.
Saint Vincent and Grenadines also picked up its first CU20 win by downing U.S. Virgin Islands 3-0.
Vincy Heat, who led in its first two matches in Group A only to come away empty-handed each time, made sure this time was different thanks to goals from Trezine Da Souza (22’), Trivis Fraser (67’) and Gidson Francis (84’).
Rounding out the day’s action in Group A was the United States topping Trinidad and Tobago 6-1 thanks to five different goal-scorers and a Trinidad and Tobago own goal.
