BRADENTON, Florida – Group A of the 2018 Concacaf Under-20 Championship started off with a bang, as Trinidad and Tobago mounted a dramatic comeback to defeat Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 3-2.
Vincy Heat was riding high early with a pair of early goals, but the Soca Warriors pulled one back before halftime to make it 2-1.
The Saint Vincent and Grenadines defense was holding firm until Trinidad and Tobago surged late with two goals in second half stoppage time through Mark Ramdeen and Judah Garcia to snag the three points.
There were goals galore in the group’s other contests, as hat tricks from Brian Elshot and Alvaro Verwey powered Suriname to a 13-2 triumph over the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Reigning CU20 champions United States also enjoyed a prosperous start thanks to braces from Justin Rennicks and Ayo Akinola in a 7-1 win versus Puerto Rico.
