MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay – A trio of women’s referees from Concacaf will be tasked with refereeing the 2018 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup Final on Saturday between Mexico and Spain in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Marie-Soleil Beaudoin of Canada will work as the head referee in the Final, while Jamaicans Princess Brown and Stephanie-Dale Yee Singh will be assistant referees. The Jamaicans are the first Caribbean match officials to work a FIFA World Cup final.
“Concacaf is extremely proud of Marie-Soleil, Princess and Stephanie,” said Brian Hall, Concacaf Director of Refereeing.
“The fact that their performances merits appointment to the final speaks highly of their dedication and commitment to excellence. Any time you are appointed to a FIFA final, you know that your work has been special. A lot of thanks to their Member Associations and the Concacaf referee support team for their contributions to making their dreams become a reality,” added Hall.
The three women also served as referees in the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Championship held last October in the United States.
It has been a busy 2018 for Beaudoin. The Concacaf Women’s Championship was her first tournament since giving birth and Beaudoin was able to bring her newborn along to the tournament while she refereed matches.
Brown has the distinction of having passed the men’s refereeing fitness test and also worked several matches in the 2018 Scotiabank Concacaf League.
