BRADENTON, Florida – The 2019 Concacaf Boys’ Under-15 Championship kicked off on Sunday with 10 matches at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida in which Canada and Mexico each started with strong performances.
Division 1
Group A
Reigning champion Mexico looked primed for another deep run as it took down Panama 3-0 thanks in large part to Carlos Eduardo Cruz’s brace. In the group’s other match, invitees Israel downed Curacao 5-0.
Group B
The United States started its 2015 CBU15 campaign off on the right foot with a 2-0 victory against Haiti, while Guatemala barely edged a tough Suriname side 1-0.
Group C
Canada rolled to 7-0 win over El Salvador to open the group led by Hugo-hilaire Mbongue’s hat trick. Also taking home a win was Slovenia with a 5-0 triumph over Guadeloupe.
Group D
Costa Rica also secured a clean sheet win in a 3-0 final over Trinidad and Tobago, while invitees Portugal topped Barbados 6-0.
Division 3
Group B
British Virgin Islands enjoyed a success start to the tournament as well, as it collected a 3-0 win against Dominica.
