CAC Games draws produce intriguing groups

The draw (above) for the 2014 Central American & Caribbean Games men’s and women’s football tournaments took place on October 9, 2014.

 

VERACRUZ, Mexico – Host Mexico headlined groups after draws for the men’s and women’s football competitions in the 2014 Central American & Caribbean (CAC) Games were conducted Thursday at the Camino Real hotel.

The competition will be played November 17-27 at the Estadio Luis "Pirata" Fuente and the Unidad Deportiva "Hugo Sanchez" in Boca del Rio, Veracruz.

Draw results are below.

Officials present at the ceremony were CONCACAF Director of Competitions Horace Reid, Veracruz Governor Javier Duarte, Head of the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE) Jesus Mena; President of the Mexican Olympic Committee (COM) Carlos Padilla Becerra and Carlos Sosa, Director of the Organizing Committee (COVER).

"The people of Veracruz will give you a warm welcome to this land,” said Duarte.  “Now that the groups have been defined in order to compete for the football medals in the under-21 category, the countdown begins.

"The 22nd Central American & Caribbean Games Veracruz 2014 will start in only 36 days.  For development, we have all the support of the Government of the Republic led by President Enrique Peña Nieto.”

The men’s tournament will be for under-21 teams with three overage players allowed to participate, while teams competing in the women’s competition can field their full national selections.
