MEXICO CITY – One day after learning its opponents in the 2016 Olympic Football Tournament, Mexico announced that 26 under-23 players have been invited to a mini-camp from April 17-20 at the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol’s High Performance Center.
The defending Olympic and current CONCACAF champion was drawn Thursday into Group C with Fiji, Korea Republic and Germany for Rio 2016.
Head coach Raul Gutierrez will hold double sessions on Monday and Tuesday, plus a single training on Wednesday.
The roster is highlighted by the inclusion 2015 CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship Best XI selections Erick Aguirre (defender), Gibran Lajud (goalkeeper) and Erick Torres (forward).
Before competing in the Olympics, the side will head to France for the prestigious Toulon tournament in May.
