Honduras U23s call in 27 for training camp

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – Honduras under-23 national team head coach Jorge Luis Pinto will hold training camp in Comayagua starting Monday as part of preparations for next month’s CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship. 

The gathering will held through Wednesday at the Estadio Carlos Miranda. 

Pinto has called in 27 players, including three special invitees: Darvis Argueta (Marathon), Alejandro Reyes (Olimpia) and John Paul Suazo (Marathon). 

Headlining the selection is Motagua midfielder Joshua Nieto, who scored both of Honduras’ goals in a 2-1 Central American qualifying win over Guatemala on August 13, 2015. 

In the CONCACAF competition, Honduras will open Group B play with games at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, against Haiti (October 2) and Costa Rica (October 4), before facing Mexico at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado (October 7).
