MEXICO CITY – CONCACAF Gold Cup champion Mexico announced Wednesday a 23-player roster for a pair of international friendlies ahead of the Copa America Centenario.
The Tricolor is slated to face Paraguay at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on May 28 (5 p.m. ET) and then will travel to San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium for a meeting with defending Copa America champion Chile on June 1.
Juan Carlos Osorio’s squad consists of six players that competed in last month’s Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League final, with four coming from runner-up Tigres and two from champion Club America.
A contingent of competitors just completing the season in Europe merited selection, including forward Javier Hernandez of Bayer Leverkusen and 2015 Gold Cup Golden Ball winner Andres Guardado of PSV Eindhoven.
Mexico will open its Copa America Centenario schedule against Uruguay on June 5 in Glendale, Arizona.
