PANAMA CITY, Panama – Panama played visiting Venezuela to a 0-0 draw in an international friendly on Tuesday at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez, extending its unbeaten and shutout streak in “A” international matches to three.
Although it was used by both sides as preparation for next month’s Copa America Centenario, the encounter was marked by rough and uneven play. Key Panamanian midfielder Valentin Pimentel left the game in the first half with an apparent ankle injury and was replaced by Abdiel Arroyo.
The best chance fell to the host in the 65th minute, when a sliding Roberto Nurse poked Arroyo’s right-sided cross past the near post from the edge of the six-yard box.
Panama will fly Wednesday to Orlando, Florida, to continue its training camp, before traveling to Commerce City, Colorado, for another friendly against Brazil on May 29.
