MADRID – Real Madrid and Costa Rica star Keylor Navas underwent successful surgery on his left heel Thursday, the Spanish power announced.

The injury, which lingered for approximately a year, precluded the 29-year-old goalkeeper from playing in this month’s Copa America Centenario.

Navas, who helped Real Madrid to the 2015/16 UEFA European Champions League title and appeared in 34 of 38 La Liga games, will begin rehabilitation immediately.
