GLENDALE, Arizona – The United States has an opportunity to end its Copa America Centenario campaign a good note, when it squares off against Colombia in the match for third place on Saturday at University of Phoenix Stadium. 

A 4-0 setback to Argentina in the semifinals may have ended American hopes of lifting the trophy at home in the 100th anniversary edition of the South American championship, but finding motivation to compete one more time shouldn’t be difficult. After all, the USA’s only group-stage loss was inflicted by the Colombians, 2-0, on June 3.

It will mark the sixth time that a CONCACAF side has participated in this stage of the competition.

Mexico has made three appearances, while Honduras and the U.S. have each reached that far once previously. The U.S. is the only one of that group to lose, dropping a 4-1 decision to Colombia in 1995.
