KINGSTON, Jamaica – Portmore United of Jamaica has qualified for the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League after playing to a 1-1 draw with fellow Jamaican side Waterhouse in their 2019 Flow Concacaf Caribbean Club Championship finale on Thursday night at Stadium East in Kingston, Jamaica.
It marks the first time that Portmore United has qualified for the SCCL, while Waterhouse has advanced to the Round of 16 of the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League.
Javon East earned Portmore United a 1-0 lead when he converted a penalty kick in the 24’.
Waterhouse would battle back though and it was suddenly 1-1 in the 52’ thanks to an Andre Fletcher score.
It was still wide open and the SCCL ticket was there for the taking, but in the end, it was Portmore United who locked things down in defense and secured the result that sends them to the SCCL.
