DALLAS, Texas – After taking a two-goal lead against Costa Rica in a Central American Cup (CCA) match on Sunday, Panama was understandably disappointed to settle for a 2-2 draw.  The result, though, helped it set a record for the longest unbeaten streak in tournament history at 12 games.

The Canaleros previously shared the mark with the Costa Ricans and Honduras.

Over the course of the streak, Panama has posted six wins and six draws, scoring 15 goals and conceding five.  Impressively, five of the games took place after the group stage.

Blas Perez has netted a team-best three goals during the stretch, while Edwin Aguilar and Armando Cooper have tallied twice apiece.  Costa Rica’s Celso Borges is the only opponent to find the back of Panama’s net twice in the competition since the run began on January 27, 2009.
