TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – Honduras head coach Jorge Luis Pinto has called up 23 players for a minicamp that will be held December 12-17, 2016, in San Pedro Sula, the Federación Nacional Autónoma de Fútbol de Honduras announced Friday.
The squad is composed mostly of domestic-based players with the exception of invitee Ever Alvarado (Sporting Kansas City/USA), Oscar Boniek Garcia (Houston Dynamo/USA) and Eddie Hernandez, who is currently without a club.
Olimpia is the best-represented club with seven of its players in the squad, including forward Romell Quioto, who scored seven goals in the 2016 Honduran Apertura.
No players were selected from either Motagua or Platense, which will square off in the first leg of Apertura final on Sunday in Tegucigalpa.
The camp is part of Honduras’ preparations for the 2017 Copa Centroamericana, which will be played January 13-22, 2017, in Panama.
