SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – El Salvador will prepare for next month’s Copa Centroamericana with a squad of 25 players, the Federación Salvadoreña de Fútbol (FESFUT) announced Friday.
Head coach Eduardo Lara, who was named to the post earlier in the month, will convene the team on January 3, 2017, and hold a double-training session at the FESFUT Sports Complex.
Recently-crowned Salvadoran champion Santa Tecla – led by midfielder Gerson Mayen, who scored in Sunday’s final -- is the best-represented club with six call-ups, while runner-up Alianza is second with five.
The Cuscatlecos will open their Copa Centroamericana campaign against Costa Rica on January 13, before taking on Honduras (Jan. 15), Belize (Jan. 17), host Panama (Jan. 20) and Nicaragua (Jan. 22).
