PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad & Tobago – Cardiff City striker Kenwyne Jones leads a plethora of foreign-based stars named in a strong 20-man Trinidad & Tobago squad to contest Caribbean Cup, second round matches starting Wednesday.

The host Soca Warriors will do battle in Group 7, alongside Antigua & Barbuda, St. Lucia and the Dominican Republic, from October 8-12 at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

Jones, who has played for Stoke City and Sunderland, will wear the captain’s armband in a side that also features Slovan Bratislava winger Lester Peltier.

A trio of performers from Major League Soccer -- forward Cordell Cato (San Jose Earthquakes), defender Carlyle Mitchell (Vancouver Whitecaps) and midfielder Kevan George (Columbus Crew) – also got nods.

They will be joined by the Belgium-based pair of Khaleem Hyland (Racing Genk) and Sheldon Bateau (KV Mechelen), the Vietnam-based duo of Hughtun Hector and Daneil Cyrus, as well as Justin Hoyte and Andre Boucaud, who ply their trades in England for Millwall and Dagenham and Redbridge, respectively.

“This is the 20-man squad we’ve decided on and…it’s good for them to come together again as we haven’t seen each other since the games against Argentina and Iran in June,” said head coach Stephen Hart.  “The players appear to be very enthusiastic and the mood is quite good which is what we want heading into the competition.  It’s important for us to have the right approach which I am quite confident the team will have because these are all professional players who are very committed to doing what is right for the team and their country.”

Goalkeeper Jan Michael Williams and Ataullah Guerra, both of Central FC, highlight the list of six players selected from the local TT Pro League.

The only newcomer is 20-year-old defender Alvin Jones of W Connection.

Trinidad opens against the Dominican Republic on Wednesday.
